For kidney disease patients, they are advised to limit the intake of mushroom. That is because the damaged kidneys fail to remove the metabolic product of protein out of body. Much intake of protein can increase the kidneys’ burden, so kidney disease patients are suggested to have low-protein diet. While mushroom contains high level of proteins. Another reason is that mushroom also contains high level of potassium. The potassium can not be discharged by the damaged kidneys, in that case, hyperkalemia may happen, then a series of symptoms may occur, such as chest pain, stiff tongue, numbness of fingers, fatigue, anesthesia, even arrhythmias and sudden heart arrest and so on.

Moreover, it has been proved that some substances in the mushroom can induce Lupus Nephritis, so the experts advise patients with Lupus Nephritis not to eat mushroom. Also the experts warn the kidney disease patients that when they eat the foods or vegetables containing potassium, the foods and the vegetables can be pared firstly and then chopped into the small pieces, and boiled for 3-5minutes.

In addition to the mushroom that Renal Failure patients should limit or even avoid, other foods that Renal Failure patients should also limit include: cauliflower, spinach, water convolvulus, bamboo shoot, tomato, carrot, pumpkin, mustard, sweet pomegranate, loquat, peach, tangerine, hard persimmon, orange and so on.
