Sequential Colon Dialysis Treats CKD Stage 3-4 Patients

2012-11-24 17:41

CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) enjoys a high morbidity in general population. Its morbidity is 10-16%. To make things worse, Chronic Kidney Disease shows younger trend, and also becomes one cause accounting for ESRD (End-stage Renal Disease). Sequential colon dialysis is used to treat CKD stage 3-4 patients and see how it works during removing toxins and slow down the progression of declined kidney function.

Several procedures should be well realized:

The first step is called bowel irrigation. Paraffin oil will be caked with special probes connecting duct, and then it would be put into enteric cavity. Intestinal canal will be flushed repeatedly.

The second step is colon dialysis. Third step is retention enema of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine). Major ingredients of dialyzer include calcined oyster shell, prepared rhubarb and Asiatic Pennywort Herb etc.

In recent years, sequential colon dialysis is adopted in clinics for treating CKD stage 3-4 and has got satisfactory effect. Unlike conventional colon dialysis, sequential colon dialysis is combines bowel irrigation, colonic dialysis and enema of TCM as a whole. Compared with conventional ones, bowel irrigation is much more thorough and effective.

Chinese medicines regard treatments for CKD as removing toxins so as to lower the level of BUN (blood urea nitrogen) and SCr (serum creatinine). Renal tubular atrophy and fibrogenesis can be restrained by doing so. Plus, one’s immune system can be improved if taking this treatment for a period of time. Chinese rhubarb will be taken as the principle ingredients in this dialyzer, processed Radix Aconiti Lateralis acts as assistance drug. Oldenlandia diffusa and asiatic pennywort herb is helpful to remove metabolic products and toxins from blood. Those drugs, take Chinese rhubarb as an example, could increase the peristalsis, restrain proteolysis, stop ammonia from being absorbed by intestinal tract, improve amino acid metabolism and promote the excretion of harmful substances like BUN etc. Consequently, glomerular fibrosis will be alleviated and then lipid metabolism disorders can be corrected in patients with CKD patients.
