The Complications of Interstitial Nephritis and Polycystic Kidney Disease

2012-09-23 08:55

Interstitial Nephritis is a kidney disorder where the spaces between the kidney tubules become swollen. While Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) is a kind of inherited disease, and it is characteristic by the numerous cysts growing on the kidneys. If the condition can not be controlled, both Interstitial Nephritis and PKD can cause the severe complications.

Generally speaking, interstitial Nephritis is rare to have pain, and patients usually have the normal quantities of urine. It is common to pass more urine at night. In some cases, the urine volumes are excessive, so patients may feel dry and thirsty all the time. Interstitial Nephritis can damage the kidneys so much that Kidney Failure develops. If Kidney Failure occurs, nausea, vomiting, anemia, headache and other complications may appear.

Just like interstitial Nephritis, Kidney Failure is also a complication of PKD. The enlargement of cysts can oppress the normal kidney tissues and make less and less kidney function to be left. when the illness condition develops into Kidney Failure, the doctors will recommend dialysis or kidney transplant.

Besides Kidney Failure, the complications of PKD still include high blood pressure, liver cyst, heart valve abnormalities and so on.

In order to avoid the complications of interstitial Nephritis and PKD, we must start from the root cause of the disease. Interstitial Nephritis is caused by the abnormal immune system or infections. PKD has relationship with the cyst gene, but what we can do is to shrink the cysts and enhance the kidney function, in that case, PKD patients still can avoid Kidney Failure and live a normal life as others do.

As to the treatment for patients with interstitial Nephritis, we recommend Immunotherapy whose purpose is to rebuild and recover the innate immune system of human body; while Chinese herbal medicine is recommended to shrink the cysts and enhance the kidney function.
